Before you move the data, decide what it means.

Identify the authoritative SKU list, stock record and location list. Resolve duplicate identifiers and decide who owns corrections before importing data.

Map spreadsheet columns to information the warehouse actually needs. Keep a field when someone uses it to make a decision or perform a task.

Separate physical stock from stock available to fulfill orders. Include damaged, held and receiving quantities in the reconciliation so they do not become an unexplained difference at cutover.

SIP’s merchant inventory view distinguishes these states. Use the agreed import and warehouse process to preserve the relevant distinctions.

Choose representative products and locations. Test the supported mapping, receive stock and work through an order and an exception before moving the full operation.

Assign someone to validate quantities, locations and state. Record discrepancies and resolve them before relying on the new system.

Your implementation scope should identify supported sources, required mappings and validation responsibilities. Spreadsheet structure and data quality affect that scope.

Set the cutover procedure around the tested process, including what happens if validation fails. Migration timing follows the agreed work rather than a universal deadline.
