How the work connects
Describe your catalogue
Say what each SKU contains, and add the details from its label.
Record your licenses
Add the states each client may ship alcohol to, then turn on alcohol handling.
Pick, pack and ship
Pick by scan, pack the box, and buy a rate-shopped label.
Know what is in every bottle
Each SKU can say whether it is wine, spirits, beer, cider, a ready-to-drink or not alcoholic.
- Record wine and spirits details on the SKU, in the order they appear on the label.
- Track stock by lot, so each bottling keeps its own count.
- Mark glassware, gift cards and apparel as merchandise, not as alcohol.
Ship alcohol the way carriers ask
With alcohol handling on, SIP checks each parcel that holds a SKU marked as alcohol.
- It asks the carrier for an adult signature by default; you can turn that off for one client, or as the workspace default.
- It stops a label from a carrier that is not marked as licensed for alcohol.
- It stops a parcel to a state where the client has no license on file.
SIP checks the licenses you record; it does not tell you where you may sell.
Turning the signature off in SIP does not change what your carrier agreement or state law asks for.
Choose the rate for each label
Rate-shopped labels, including discounted alcohol shipping rates.
SIP can buy the cheapest quoted rate for a parcel, or show the rates so your team picks one.
File these with your own compliance provider.
Frequently asked questions
Does SIP check that a buyer is old enough?
With alcohol handling on, SIP asks the carrier for an adult signature on parcels that hold a SKU marked as alcohol, by default. The carrier checks the person who signs for the parcel at the door.
Can one client ship alcohol without a signature?
Only where your carrier and state allow it; SIP does not check whether they do. You can turn the adult signature off for one client, or as the workspace default.
